The multiplication tables check is a statutory assessment that every child in state schools in England takes in June of Year 4. It has 25 questions drawn from the 2 to 12 times tables, with 6 seconds to answer each one and a short pause between questions.
The check draws most heavily on the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables — the ones children find hardest. Our practice check uses the same emphasis, so the questions your child sees here are weighted the way the real check is.
No. The check is scored out of 25 and there is no official pass mark — schools use it to see which children need more support with recall. That said, fluent recall of all tables to 12 × 12 is the National Curriculum expectation by the end of Year 4.
